Strong from the Heart was an action-packed thrill ride! It was full of gun fights, explosions, and fights to the death. It held everything from derailed trains and drug busts to a mysterious catastrophe leaving an entire town dead! This story was an excellent high-intensity, edge of your seat adventure. My favorite part though is this crazy train of events was led by a gun slinging, fear-inducing female protagonist who held the main role in this piece, Caitlin Strong. Strong from the Heart might have been the eleventh in the Strong series, but I did not feel like I missed a beat. It could be read easily as a standalone but be warned you might be adding another ten books to your TBR to find out what other mayhem Caitlin has conquered.
Strong from the Heart has some extremely relevant topics that I loved reading about because the more they are brought up the more education and light is brought to those issues at hand. The opioid drug epidemic was the main issue addressed and it was handled in so many different dimensions that I loved the unique approach. I am used to seeing either the build and focus being on a huge drug bust with a corrupt epic takedown or having the story revolve around an extremely personal struggle with either themselves or a loved one. Strong from the Heart had all that and an entire city wiped out. I cannot imagine a story more interesting than this.
The structure of Strong from the Heart held a great balance of intimate, milder moments with the broader and heart-racing scenes that overall created a fun thriller with heart. I would recommend Strong from the Heart to lovers of historical fictions with its intermingling of fun quotes, as well as readers who love a good western, drama, strong female storyline, Texas Ranger, and thriller.
