Three years ago, a collision between a fast-moving freight train and a school bus full of kids led to devastation and grief on an unimaginable scale. But a fresh clue leads San Antonio police detective Amara Alvarez to the unlikely conclusion that one of the children may still be alive. If she's correct, everything law enforcement believes about the accident is a lie.
With time running out, Amara must convince others--and herself--that despite all evidence to the contrary, the boy lives. And she will do everything in her power to bring him home.
A fresh voice in suspense, Tom Threadgill will have you questioning everything as you fly through the pages of this enthralling story.

Collision of Lies has heart, humor, and conspiracy. Tom did a fantastic job balancing the flow of the developments while keeping it at an upbeat, steady pace. The short chapters made this book hard to put down. One thing I admired was the excellent use of a subplot. Property crimes was the perfect leeway into this story while the main plot was developing. It added insight and dimension and kept the excitement level up while introducing the main story line.
I love a speckle of pop culture mixed in a book and I loved finding those gems throughout. I got to find Texas references with characters wearing Longhorn college attire and seeing a love shown to those delicious Chick-fil-a nuggets, then the use of a very unique pet that was a fun change to the norm and a character who was quite obsessed with Downton Abbey (and beware because he's not afraid to spoil things!).
I loved the strong female character and the strength in development of this piece. He didn't cut corners and fall into the typical tropes that are so overplayed. The fact that he is a member of the American Christian Fiction Writers (ACFW) showed. For as fun and thrilling as this book was it did not include sex or graphic gory scenes. It was a clean read and better for it. Thank you for the solid work of art and I can't wait to see what's next in this series!

This is a great review, and you make a great point about Christian sometimes just meaning that you'll get a clean and non-graphic story -- which works for me. Thanks for the post!
