All I Want by Jill Shalvis REVIEW

Pilot-for-hire Zoe Stone is happy to call Sunshine, Idaho, her home base. But her quiet life is thrown for a loop when her brother’s friend Parker comes to stay with her for a week. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife special agent is a handsome flirt with a gift for getting under her skin. And the situation only escalates when Parker hires her to fly him around the area while he collects evidence on a suspected smuggler. Now she has to live and work with the guy. But when they’re in the air, she sees another side of him. He’s driven, focused, and sharp. And while he enjoys giving commentary on her blind dates, she quickly realizes with a shock that it’s Parker who gets her engines going…

“As a rule, she ate fairly healthily but all bets were off during times of stress. Proving the point, she’d just polished off an entire bag of pizza rolls by herself and was covered in crumbs and questioning her choices in life.”

“Peanut, play dead,” Wyatt said. Peanut sighed and tucked her head into her feathers. “Good parrot.” Wyatt looked at Parker. “She’s a nut.” “Damn, shit, farts,” the bird muttered beneath her breath, making Parker grin. Wyatt sighed. “Peanut’s a mimic, and Jade, our office manager, has a bit of a potty mouth.” “Boner,” Peanut said, head still tucked into her feathers. “Peanut, dead parrots don’t talk.”

This was a refreshing, easy romance with sprinkles of excitement. It held about a 90% focus on the budding romance with little hints of suspense and mystery. I wish it had held a more even balance of romance and action because it had the potential to involve a lot more detail on the action-packed backstory. I felt like the transitions between the action and romance were rough and a bit forced, being few and far between, instead of intertwining and complementing each other more.

I did still enjoy this book, it just gave me a taste for action and I wanted more. I have not read a book from Jill Shalvis that I didn’t like, so I would easily recommend this book. I gave this book four out of five stars. She doesn’t go into so much detail during the sexy scenes that it will make you blush at work, but she alludes and provides glances that fuel the imagination to possibly affect you just as much without the blunt wording of other erotica’s. I would rate the main male character, definite boyfriend material, with how much he helped around the house! There is nothing sexier than a man cleaning up and fixing things behind your back without you having to ask him a dozen times. He was a charmer.
