Bad Mommy by Tarryn Fisher REVIEW

Bad Mommy by Tarryn Fisher

When Fig Coxbury buys a house on West Barrett Street, it's not because she likes the neighborhood, or even because she likes the house. It's because everything she desires is next door: The husband, the child, and the life that belongs to someone else.

I would like to write a novel that every, single person loves, but not even J.K. Rowling could do that. Instead, I try to write stories that pull on people's emotions. I believe that sadness is the most powerful emotion, and swirled with regret the two become a dominating force. I love villains. Three of my favorites are Mother Gothel, Gaston and the Evil Queen who all suffered from a pretty wicked case of vanity (like me). I like to make these personality types the center of my stories.

I love rain, Coke, Starbucks and sarcasm. I hate bad adjectives and the word "smolder". If you read my book-I love you. If you hate my book-I still love you, but please don't be mean to me; I'm half badass, half cry baby.

Ha. So I should really start reading these back covers because I had my mind blown a little bit. I don't know why I'm not used to Tarryn's writing still, having only one of her books remaining to read, but dang I was surprised.

This is her Love Me with Lies series wrapped in one with a cherry on top.

The first section was crazy, but seemed to be dragging a little bit towards the end as I waiting a little impatiently for the epic scene I was imagining. Then when I started the next section I was confused at first before realizing what the author did. After I realized what she did with the rotating points of views, I finished the book in two hours. I could not read this book fast enough. I was expecting to see a version of the movie, Obsession with Beyoncé, but was blown away.

I've never seen such differing accounts of the same circumstances, it was amazing. To see how people interpret the same events differently, to see their intentions going in being so different, and see their true dark and dirty secrets that lead them to make each decision.

This was so much better than I could have imagined. I love any book that contains readers or authors and this one had an author with a cult-like fan following that was poked fun at and I thought it was hilarious! Tarryn sure has fun bringing herself into her stories and it makes it so much better, feeling that personal connection to the author and the best part at the end literally bringing herself into this story. :) bravo.

“People didn’t want to hear the truth. They had their ideas and any deviation made them uncomfortable.”

“Love was sacrificing your selfish nature for someone you were more committed to than yourself.”

“There was a certain butt naked feeling when you told someone you were an artist. It was sort of like telling them you’d been to prison.”
