Constant spinning, round and round and round, temperatures rise and fall from stifling heat to chilling cold, emotions run high in anticipation of what will happen next… there’s a fine line between surviving a tornado and falling in love.

A close encounter with a tornado, during the final months of her doctoral studies, jogs a lost memory to the surface. Desperate to relive the vision and find answers, storm chaser Elaina Adams continually puts her safety at risk by placing herself in the path of dangerous storms.

When betrayal strikes, Elaina is forced to pair up with Robert Tucker. “Tuck” owns a storm chasing tour group and only cares about two things: chasing tornadoes and making his next buck.

Seth Maddux was climbing his way to the top as the star meteorologist for the Forecast channel, but an embarrassing outburst on camera sent his career on a downward spiral. Hoping to reignite his career with a promising field assignment, he meets Elaina and a different kind of flame sparks.

Family secrets surface and passions explode in this twister of a tale.

Vortex is a story of family, love, identity and determination set against the thrilling backdrop of Tornado Alley.

Vortex is the perfect storm. Kimberly developed an outstanding cast of characters that when brought together formed an entertaining, unpredictable whirlwind of a tale. The character chemistry and development was brilliant.

The entire structure of this story was beautifully assembled from the individual introductions of each character flowing into the next, which laid a great foundation when they did all finally cross paths, to the background characters complementing the story line so flawlessly by creating crossroads and having situations arise that might have otherwise felt forced or choppy.

I loved so many different things about Vortex! From the strong female character taking charge throughout these pages to her sidekick that stole my heart (and I mean Nimbus, not Heath even though he was as sweet as can be as well). Elaina was impeccably portrayed and Nimbus will be ingrained in my heart for many years to come, envisioning that freaking adorable helmet he had to wear during the chase and the love and anxiety he had for his owner's safety held me captive.

The drama throughout Vortex created a tension that made this a page-turner and the short chapters and easy dialogue created a lightness that provided momentum in my need to finish and find out how things ended. I'd recommend this to any and all. I enjoyed reading a story based near my hometown, about a subject I took pleasure learning about, and based on a strong-willed female protagonist.

In that fleeting glimpse of whirling winds and damaging debris, Elaina had witnessed a past that didn't exist but felt as real as the ground she stood on. Images and feelings blurred together like a nightmare she couldn't wake from.

The scenes that flooded her mind, they weren't made up visions, or images conjured by a head injury. They were memories. Her memories. That someone tried to steal from her.

The flying monkeys should be very, very afraid.

Panic and confusion swirled around her stomach, but one through emerged from the vortex deep inside her. The mother she cried for wasn't the woman who'd raised her.

There were never secrets between them, but Elaina couldn't help but feel that instead of digging holes for lettuce, her mother was digging a hole to bury the past.
