#FisherinJuly: Binge Reading of all things Tarryn Fisher
I met The Fettered Matriarch, on Instagram when I had only just started my @TangledinText #bookstagram account. After a few months of back and forth she made a personal recommendation of an author she thought I'd like. I was already a #cohort (Colleen Hoover obsessed), so I was familiar with Hoover's sworn nemesis, but had never ventured over to the dark side to pick any of her books up. All I needed apparently was one personal recommendation to tip me over the cliff.
In November 2017, I read Mud Vein for the first time, thanks to her. She did give me a warning that I will extend. There is rape, self-harm, and someone in a very dark place throughout this book. This book is not filled with rainbows and happily ever afters, my review is here.
I didn't handle the story well, going through my own demons too similar to those in this story, I went even darker into my own dark place for a while. I took a break, intimidated of the next emotional read that would challenge me and force me to feel.
I took the next several months slowly collecting every Tarryn Fisher book I could find, until I held them all on my shelf right next to her best friend, Hoover's books. They all just sat there awhile, until I did a small Q&A session on my Instagram last month. The first question submitted was from my friend Kacy (@fetteredmatriach), asking when I was going to start reading Fisher again. It had been six months of delays and hesitations and I didn't have a good excuse, so I decided then to just do it already.
I didn't want to just casually read Tarryn's books though, I wanted to be immersed in them. I didn't want to find another excuse and wait another six months, so I dedicated July to read all of her books back to back, which is a super long story of my #FisherinJuly evolution.
I just finished The Love Me with Lies series and I'm mad at myself for waiting this long. My reviews will be up shortly after this post, so stay tuned. I'm starting Marrow tonight and have many left to conquer. I'm planning to continue my reading with F*ck Love, Bad Mommy, Atheists Who Kneel and Pray, then finally Folsom, so if you'd like to DM on Instagram, that is where I am most active, and read along with me, I'd love to chat as I go along.

I would like to write a novel that every, single person loves, but not even J.K. Rowling could do that. Instead, I try to write stories that pull on people's emotions. I believe that sadness is the most powerful emotion, and swirled with regret the two become a dominating force. I love villains. Three of my favorites are Mother Gothel, Gaston and the Evil Queen who all suffered from a pretty wicked case of vanity (like me). I like to make these personality types the center of my stories.
I love rain, Coke, Starbucks and sarcasm. I hate bad adjectives and the word "smolder". If you read my book-I love you. If you hate my book-I still love you, but please don't be mean to me; I'm half badass, half cry baby.
