A Bookish Summer Blog Hop: #CoverLove

Today's Topic:

What is a book you picked solely on the cover?

My most recent pick based on the cover was The Female Persuasion. I have a bad habit of judging books by their covers and I’ve been burned in both directions. Some newer authors who might not be able to afford the epic graphic, yet still could hold an excellent stories between those covers. Then, in this case scenario, with a cover as vibrant and bright as this, I expected epic and ended up leaving this one unfinished. I couldn’t get into this read and found it dry being an extreme contradiction to its cover.

One that comes to mind is The Killing Game by J.S. Carol. The cover is pretty simple really but it has just enough to pull you in and make you need to read the book (which by the way was awesome. One of my best reads from last year). Simple text, a simple image that sets the atmosphere, and a simple tag line that hooks you. Simplicity at its best.

The one book I bought based on the cover was Nora Robert’s Blood Magick. The cover is absolutely beautiful. The storyline itself is ok, but I enjoy looking at it on bookshelf! :)

Hmmm. I was recently in the local bookstore and purchased The Philosopher's Flight by Tom Miller. I loved the cover but knew nothing about the book. I added it to my TBR and am hoping this story will be as adventurous as the cover implies!

In this instance the cover was right. I tend to shy away from Christian Literature, but Dekker snuck this one in on me and I am so glad. He is such an amazing author. But look at that cover, you never would have guessed it, and it’s a thriller and so suspenseful and wow! It really is a GREAT read!
